Have you ever asked the questions, Who am I? Where do I belong? or What is my purpose?

Perhaps you have never asked these questions of yourself, but maybe you live and act and think as if you don’t know the answers to them. If you are similar to most Christians, you often question whether or not the God of the universe knows who you are and loves you. You question the purpose of the Christian church and wonder if have a purpose within her. You question why you have been placed on this earth—what is the point of your job, your family, your children, your passions and dreams? And no matter how many books you read, sermons you listen to, or conferences you attend, nothing seems to change. The questions still remain. The emptiness is ever-present. The hurt is tangible.

You are not alone.

In fact, many individuals—Christians and non-believers alike—live with these questions day in and day out. In our own minds, we are identity-less, we are homeless, we are purposeless. Or, at least, that is what we think.

But is this what life is to be like? Are we supposed to struggle with these questions, or is there another way?

In John 16:13, Jesus says that the Spirit of Truth (i.e. the Holy Spirit) will guide us into all truth, and that he will declare to us all that is from the Jesus and God the Father:

“When the Spirit of Truth comes, he will guide you into all truth…whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come…for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.” (John 16:13-15)

Jesus clearly teaches his followers that in order for us to experience the answers to our questions, we must be guided to them by the Holy Spirit. We cannot merely saturate ourselves with propositional truths and ideas. Rather, we must experience them. We must encounter them. We must live in them. And if we don’t, they will never grow roots deep within our souls. They will be intellectual ideas that don’t change our lives. But if we are guided to them and experience them through the Holy Spirit, we can and will be changed.

Through reading Spirit-Filled Truthyou will be encouraged to experience the Holy Spirit’s guiding work firsthand, and learn to experience the answers to your deepest questions.
